Extra Life: A Short History of Living Longer

--

A new documentary series coming to PBS reveals the little-known story of the innovations in science and medicine that doubled the human lifespan in less than a century. It celebrates the unsung heroes of public health who believed change was possible and acted on it.

Bestselling science writer Steven Johnson and historian David Olusoga will cohost the four-part series coming to PBS on May 11 — June 1.

Jane Root (founder and chief executive at Nutopia) joined the hosts with Linda Villarosa (series participant and New York Times Magazine contributing writer) to discuss the film with critics and explore whether public health triumphs of the past can provide a blueprint for the future.
