PBS Election Coverage: We bring light —and not heat— to the national conversation

As the nation’s most trusted news source, PBS has the unique ability to cover elections from all perspectives and across multiple platforms.

On today’s virtual stage, the Election Coverage panelists–journalists, hosts and filmmakers — shared a common goal: To bring light and not heat to the national conversation.

PBS news and public affairs programs not only give you the news of the day or week, but they also offer insights into the complicated world we live in and into diverse communities during this election year.

Panelists included:

Robert Costa, moderator and managing editor of WASHINGTON WEEK — who will provide viewers in this election season with the main takeaways from the conventions, campaigns and the coming presidential election.

Hari Sreenivasan, Anchor of PBS NEWSHOUR WEEKEND, AMANPOUR AND COMPANY contributor, and host of Take on Fake, a new YouTube series that debunks claims seen or shared online to show people how to stay informed.

Margaret Hoover, host of FIRIING LINE WITH MARGARET HOOVER, will offer an in-depth interviews with newsmakers every week and recently gave us an inside look at the Republican Party’s efforts to recruit more female representation.

And Bernardo Ruiz, filmmaker of the upcoming VOCES program, “Latino Vote: Dispatches from the Battleground,” a film that follows the high-stakes effort to mobilize the ever-growing Latino electorate in this year’s pivotal election.
